How To : Prep Your Lips!
How to : Prep your Lips!
Prepping your lips is so important to get that perfect pout! I don't do it all the time, but when I
do, I notice my lips look a lot nicer!
What you need:
Step 1: Lip Scrub
Step 2:Lip Balm
Step 3:Concealer
Step 4:Lip liner
Step 5:Lipstick
Step 6:Lipgloss (Optional)
Step 1:
Start with the Lip Scrub! I love the Lush Sweet Lips lip scrub because of how well it works! The sugar is big enough to scrub well but not too big that it falls off your lips straight away. Use your finger to gently exfoliate the lips. Using a lip scrub is going to give you a more softer and plumped up look for your lips.
Step 2:
The lip balm is going to moisturize the lips after the scrub. I use the Lush Honey Trap lip balm. I featured it in my last video which I will link at the bottom! It's so good and making sure that the inner corners of your lips are covered. Using a lip balm is going to make sure that your lips don't dry out after all the products you are going to be using on them!
Step 3:
A concealer that is of a creamy consistency is essential for ensuring your lipstick lasts for a long time! It also means that your lipstick is going to be looking more true to it's colour (because the colour won't be effected by your natural lip colour). I use a Real Techniques Detailer brush to apply the concealer to my lips because it makes it easier to get every corner of your lips.
Step 4:
I love the MAC Lip Pencils since they make my lipstick last FOREVER! ;) Line the outsides of your lip to shape your lips and define them (just like eye liner). The pencil will make the lipstick last longer because it will have something to adhere to. Make sure you have a sharp pencil! Otherwise it will be difficult for you to line the lips perfectly. Choose a colour that is similar to your lipstick so that they blend well.
Step 5:
Lipstick! The lipstick should blend well with the pencil and mix the two so that there is no obvious line on your lips! You don't want the 80's lip liner look! Using the lipstick from the tube will place more colour on your lip than using a brush would! I like using the MAC lipsticks too because of the variety of colours and finishes they offer.
Step 6:
Personally, I skip this step a lot! But a lip gloss is optional if you are going for a different look! The lip gloss is going to also help the colour stay on your lips for longer; especially if it's sticky!
